Foundations of Coaching, Part I of the Whole Person Coaching Certification
Foundations of Coaching teaches the craft a professional coach is built on: how to create a relationship a client can trust, how to listen beneath the words, how to ask the question that reorganizes how a person sees their own life, and how to structure a conversation so that insight becomes action. It also teaches the boundary that keeps coaching ethical, where coaching ends and a referral begins.
This is a fully on-demand, 60-hour course delivered as short videos, extensive in-lesson text, assigned reading from the required texts, and post-reading reflection. Each topic combines a brief video (on key topics), written teaching, a specific reading task, and a single open-ended reflection submitted through the quiz for that topic. Completion requires the module knowledge/reflection work, the module reflective journals, and a capstone case synthesis.
The governing standard: every concept, cognitive, somatic, positive-psychological, or depth-psychological, is taught as a coaching skill or awareness lens, never as clinical assessment or treatment. The single test applied to every topic: does this teach the coach to be more present and effective, or to function as a therapist?
